Keep on Blooming 1

Visit to Swan Women’s Centre

On 29th September Natalie Reeves Billing DL visited the Swam Women’s Centre on behalf of the Lord-Lieutenant, for an event called “Keep on Blooming”.

A group of around 60 women from the Bootle and surrounding areas, took part in various healing classes happening every hour throughout the day.

Natalie was asked to speak about what well-being meant to her, she spoke about,

” … what my rituals or routines were for keeping my mental health in good working order. Some of these things included getting dressed every day, opening the windows to let in the natural light, having a short, achievable list of actions to do each day, not setting myself up to fail, and making sure I see other human beings every day, and have conversations with them. Simple things, but ones that I have relied on all my life.”

There was meditation, Reiki, Essential Oils, Yoga, music therapy and much more.

Tea, coffee and biscuits were available all day for the women, and at lunch, there was a lovely wholesome, home cooked lunch provided for the women, who ate together laughing and sharing stories and experiences.

Natalie said, “These women have gathered here to find friendship, confidence, support through health conditions, loneliness, and domestic abuse. I was humbled and privileged to listen to their stories and to see the good work that the Swan Centre are doing to bring joy, purpose and solidarity to these lovely and brave women.”

The centre is run by seven professional therapists and to hear them speak, you instantly know they put their heart and soul into the Swan Centre.

Natalie received a bunch of flowers and a home-made card, and was treated like a treasured friend throughout. What a wonderful experience!
