The King’s Award for Voluntary Service presented to the Merseyside Children’s Holiday Fund

On Saturday 15th February 2025 the Lord-Lieutenant presented the KAVS to the Merseyside Children’s Holiday Fund, aided by Professor Sir Mark Hedley DL and Marlene Amoo DL, who undertook the local assessment. Many thanks to the Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Cllr Richard Kemp CBE for also attending.

This amazing group has been in existence for over fifty years and has taken many, many young people from Liverpool and Merseyside on holiday each year to North Wales (previously to Colomendy).

They provide the young people with a backpack, waterproof cagoule and reusable water bottles. Other clothes and toiletries are provided for those children in need.

The holidays provide many fun activities and educational experiences, such as visiting local farms, walking along the “Cats Walk” river, Devil’s Gorge and Moel Fame, adventure time, zip wiring, fishing and swimming.

Many thanks to Ray Jones BEM and Liz Lynne for hosting us and many congratulations to all concerned! A well deserved award.
