The King’s Award for Voluntary Service presented to Brighter Bebington.

The Lord-Lieutenant was delighted to present The King’s Award for Voluntary Service to Brighter Bebington on Thursday 6th March 2025.

It is difficult to summarise the range of activities that this group undertakes, such was the number and scope of activities seen by the assessors. In creating and enhancing places of beauty outdoors for people to enjoy or encouraging people to connect, no task is too small for the group, like weeding and cleaning the streets. Yet, at the other end of the scale, they restore historic monuments in the village, such as the fountain, and they have a new initiative to create a relaxation garden outside the Civic Centre.

A truly well deserved award, and a group which brings together the widest range of local people to celebrate events such as Christmas, the Coronation, Remembrance Sunday and other national events.

Many congratulations to Colin Bermingham, Andy Bartlett, Margaret Lewis, James Skinner and the many, many volunteers involved.

Thanks to the Mayor of Wirral, Cllr Cherry Povall and Mayoress Mrs. Sheila Clarke for their attendance to support this presentation. Thanks also to the Leader of Wirral Council, Cllr Paul Stuart and CEO of Wirral Council, Paul Satoor.
