Roger Morris

Roger has lived in south Liverpool all his life. After gaining a degree in Modern History at the University of Oxford he worked initially in the shipping business, based in Liverpool but travelling throughout the world. Later, from 1989 until 2013, he managed a group of Grant-Making Charities which had historic connections with Liverpool’s shipping sector.

Roger was for many years the Honorary Treasurer of the charity now called Liverpool Charity and Voluntary Services, which provides a wide range of services for the local voluntary sector. He was also part of the group which in the 1990s created LIPA (The Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts) and he remains very involved with LIPA’s work in a variety of ways.

Throughout his adult life Roger has been a Trustee and Management Committee Member in a range of local community, arts and educational charities. He was also for many years a Board Member of a leading Merseyside Social Housing provider. At national level, Roger’s roles having included being a Trustee of the Directory of Social Change, which is a major training and information resource for the voluntary sector, and he was also for five years the Honorary Treasurer of the Association of Charitable Foundations.

Roger Morris was appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant in 2003.
