On 10th October 2024 the Lord-Lieutenant presented Rise Construction Framework with their King’s Award for Enterprise at their premises at Simpson Street in Liverpool.
Rise Construction Framework exists, not only to provide a compliant routeway to market for the public sector to procure contractors and consultants to deliver capital projects across the North West, but also to operate for the wider benefit of communities.
By investing profits directly into the VCFSE sector to fund vital community intervention and prevention services, the framework helps to tackle some of today’s deep rooted societal issues.
One of their most outstanding successes has been the founding of Thrive, a unique service for care leavers across the Liverpool City Region. It feels like a coffee shop, but is a safe space for care leavers to connect with the services they need to live happy, safe and fulfilling lives.
To meet the criteria for the Promoting Opportunity through Social Mobility category of the KAE the organisation must have a programme that supports people from disadvantaged backgrounds in improving their job skills and their chances of finding work. This is not part of the organisation’s core work, but rather is an organisation which can show additional benefits for:
- People they have supported
- Their organisation
- Their employees
- the wider community.
The programmes must include work experience, careers advice or mentoring for young people; offering non-graduate routes such as traineeships or changing recruitment practices; and, giving equal support and progression opportunities to all employees.
Rise Construction Framework was one of only eight awards for this particular category this year, a tremendous achievement. They are a small team, Sara Lawton, Daniel Ross, Elliot Hassan and Connor Rooke and are pictured below with the Lord-Lieutenant along with the Lord Mayor of Liverpool Cllr Richard Kemp CBE, the Lady Mayoress of Liverpool Alderwoman Erica Kemp CBE, Claire Dove CBE DL and Lesley Martin-Wright DL.
