On 1st November 2024 the Lord-Lieutenant presented the King’s Award for Enterprise, for Innovation, to the amazing team at Alfred H Knight Limited in Knowsley. This family-owned global business employs 6,000 people across the world, and the Lord-Lieutenant was able to meet some of those involved in the development and ongoing deployment of their particular innovation.
The KAE was awarded for Alfred H Knight’s disruptive innovation in the digital transformation of complex inspection services in Africa’s metals and minerals sector.
This year a total of two hundred and fifty-two businesses received a King’s Award for Enterprise across the country. Of those, twenty-seven were in the North West and of those, five were in Merseyside.
The King’s Awards for Enterprise are for outstanding achievement by UK businesses in four categories: Innovation, International Trade, Sustainable Development and Promoting Opportunity (through social mobility). They are the highest awards that a business can receive in the United Kingdom.
