The Vice Lord-Lieutenant, Mr. Robert T H Owen JP DL and Mr. David Steer KC DL attended Holocaust Memorial Services in Southport and St. Helens. This year’s theme was “The Fragility of Freedom”.

It was a moving, uplifting occasion held at a time when such positive initiatives aimed at encouraging and enhancing inter-faith cooperation are much needed.

The candle lit in St. Helens was one of 70 candles created in 2015 by sculptor Sir Anish Kapoor, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
