Brownlow Health Centre 1

Brownlow Group Practice

The Lord-Lieutenant and Julie Lawson BEM DL visited Brownlow Group Practice recently. The Practice began 30 years ago, realising there was a need for a practice for the inner city population, which included, amongst others, homeless people, people with drug addiction, and people with alcohol dependancy.

The Practice also provides services for students.

With its main base at the old Royal Liverpool Hospital Building in Pembroke Place (the old old Royal) the Practice has four health centres and provides outreach, working closely with the Whitechapel Centre and local hostels. It runs a Refugee and Asylum Seeker One Stop Shop on a Thursday afternoon, engaging and gaining the trust of those who need help and support.

The Lord-Lieutenant said, “We had an excellent time, the visit was very well organised so that we could see the remarkable range of services provided. It was such a pleasure to have the chance to chat to such very committed and wonderful people. It is great that you have been able to develop and find support for such a wide ranging and comprehensive service.”
