On 14th March 2024 His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant had the very pleasant duty to present The King’s Award for Voluntary Service to the Rotary Club of St. Helens, welcomed by the Major of St. Helens, Cllr Lynn Clarke to the beautiful St. Helens Town Hall.
The Award was created in 2002 to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee and was previously known as the QAVS. Equivalent to an MBE, the King’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest Award given to local voluntary groups in the UK and they are awarded for life.
The Awards are not given out lightly and for a local Rotary Club to be able to show itself to be outstanding from the many Rotary Clubs around the country is truly remarkable. This award is very well-deserved.
